Humans have the worst work ethic in nature, right?
Got to be.
We’re the only ones who get lazy, aren’t we? I mean, I’ve seen a dog basking in the noonday sun in my time. But chances are that dog had no pressing engagements or key deliverables that he was opting out in order to get his lounge on. Man, as far as I know, is the only living thing that macks on the couch when there is work that needs doin’. Shirking responsibilities is a human trait. I’ve never seen an ant off to the side while his fellow ants were busy moving a mountain of earth from point A to point B.
Even my basil plant is teaching me a lesson in hard work and determination. Once a week or so, I defoliate the hell out of that bastard. A few hours later, I already notice the beginnings of recovery; two days after leaves are appearing everywhere; in a week the plant’s back to where it was, ready for another clipping. Does the plant get discouraged, start crying, wallow in self-pity? No. Just right back to it. Building those leaves again, Sisyphean nature of the whole situation be damned.
I don’t have that kind of work ethic. So when I come up with something as delicious as what I’m about to share, and so easy, it’s gold.
This is a summer shake that I want to have all day, every day in the summertime. It takes about 60 seconds to make.
-4 oz. raspberries (frozen ok)
-3/4 cup coconut milk (regular milk ok)
Cut off the spiny bits on the outside of the pineapple; cut up into blender-compatible sized chunks (don’t worry about the core – you can include it). Peel the banana. Put everything in a blender. Put it on max power until completely blended (The shake picks up a really nice mouthfeel-y quality after a really high-powered spin).
I plan to time-test that 60-second claim on video, but later – for now I’m just going to lie down for awhile.
